Privacy Policy
For The Record MC (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a private music-listening-club app. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account info — your email address (used to sign you in via a one-time code) and the display name and avatar you choose.
- Content you create — clubs you create or join, album and song picks, ratings and reviews, notes, comments, reactions, feed posts, concert entries, and showdown submissions and votes.
- Basic usage data — activity needed to run club features (e.g. when you were last active, who picked which album), so the app can show leaderboards, recaps, and history to your club.
We do not sell your data, show third-party ads, or use it for advertising.
How we use it
- To operate the app — authenticate you, store your clubs and content, and show it to the members of clubs you belong to.
- To send transactional emails (your sign-in code). We do not send marketing email.
Where your data lives
Data is stored with our backend provider, Supabase, and protected by row-level security so members only see data for clubs they belong to. Sign-in emails are delivered over standard SMTP.
Third-party services
When you use certain features, the app talks to these services on your behalf:
- Spotify — to search tracks and, if a club owner connects their Spotify account, to create club playlists. See the Spotify Privacy Policy.
- Apple Music & Genius — to link out to songs and lyrics.
- Ticketmaster — to search live events when adding a concert. See the Ticketmaster Privacy Policy.
Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account at any time from inside the app: open the club menu and tap Delete account. This removes your profile and the content you authored. Clubs you own are transferred to another member, or deleted if you are the only member. This action cannot be undone.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
